### Topic Particle は
|
||
The topic particle identifies what it is that you’re talking about, essentially the topic of your sentence
|
||
|
||
The topic particle is the character 「は」.
|
||
|
||
While this character is normally pronounced as /ha/, it is pronounced
|
||
/wa/ only when it is being used as the topic particle.
|
||
|
||
Examples
|
||
ボブ：アリスは学生？
|
||
アリス：うん、学生。
|
||
|
||
ボブ：ジョンは明日？
|
||
アリス：ううん、明日じゃない。
|
||
|
||
アリス：今日は試験だ。
|
||
ボブ：ジョンは？
|
||
アリス：ジョンはあした。
|
||
|
||
### Inclusive Topic Particle も
|
||
essentially the topic particle with the additional meaning of “also”
|
||
|
||
Basically, it can introduce another topic in addition to the current topic.
|
||
|
||
Examples:

||
アリスはごく制？
|
||
うん、トムも学生。
|
||
|
||
アリスは学生？
|
||
うん、でもトムは学生じゃない。
|
||
|
||
アリスは学生？
|
||
ううん、トムも学生じゃない。
|
||
|
||
### Identifier Particle が
|
||
indicates that the speaker wants to identify something unspecified.
|
||
e.g., Who is the student?
|
||
|
||
誰が学生？
|
||
ジョンが学生。
|
||
|
||
1. 私は学生。
|
||
_As for_ me, (I am) student.
|
||
2. 私が学生。
|
||
I (am) _the one_ (that is) student.
|
||
