'Follow your passion' is popular but counterintuitively very poor advice and even ... dangerous.

Above all, [[Cal Newport]] believes that passion does not come out of nowhere, but emerges over time as we become progressively better at what we already do.

Besides, basing one's job satisfaction on following one's passion and often idealized vision is a source of [[Knowledge/Thoughts/Disappointment]] and takes away satisfaction instead of adding to it. After all, even the dreamiest occupation has its bright and dark sides.
