# Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline 30-06-2025 [[international relations]] [[Pakistan Affairs]] Also known as the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline, it is a natural gas pipeline meant to connect South Asia with Central Asia and provide economic prosperity to both regions. The project was originally agreed upon in Ashghabat in 2010, but so far no substantial progress has been made. The problem is the fact that the pipeline is supposed to pass through Afghanistan. If Afghanistan gets its act together, it stands to benefit a lot from the transit fees. But right now, Afghanistan is an unstable country run by the Taliban, so there is no hope for this pipeline to finish and start functioning. ## References [[Pakistan - A New History (Ian Talbot)]]
