Defines the items and the heirarchy of items on a webpage

Elements are made up of four things:
- Opening and closing tags
- Content
- Attributes

They are stucture like so:
- <tag attribute="value"> hello world </tag>

Elements can be nested within each other to create more complex arrangements

There are many types of element

- Table
- Image
- Heading
- div, aside, section, nav etc
- meta, title, 
- list
- iframe
- svg
- and more
